The Geely Geome Xingyuan electric hatchback was officially released in China with sales scheduled for late September. It is a 4.1-meter EV with 114 hp and 410 km range that will rival BYD Dolphin in China. The Geome Xingyuan EV marks the start of cooperation between Geely and the Häagen-Dazs ice cream maker.
Our regular readers know Geome was previously an independent brand under Geely called Geometry. However, a low sales volume resulted in a downgrade to a Geely series. It seems the Xingyuan EV aims to open a new chapter in the dramatic story of Geome. It adopts a new design language and aims for a new group of customers.
Geely Geome Xingyuan exterior and interior
As mentioned, the Geey Geome Xingyuan uses the new design language with oval headlights and taillights, a minimalistic front end, blackened pillars, flush door handles, and an overall smooth shape. According to Geely, this styling is perfect for urban mobility.
Other features of the new EV are four-spoke R16 rims, the “Geome” inscription on D-pillars, and body colors inspired by ice cream. It is available in seven colors: Vanilla Beige, Basil Green, Berry Powder, Milk White, Mousse Silver, Truffle Gray, and Sea Salt Blue. The exact dimensions of this EV are 4135/1805/1570 mm with a wheelbase of 2650 mm. It is 10 mm longer and 35 mm wider than the BYD Dolphin (see specs).
The interior of the Geely Geome Xingyuan offers a sizeable suspended touchscreen and an LCD instrument panel powered by Meizu’s Flyme Auto OS. It supports games and a wide customization variety. Moreover, Flyme Auto offers a built-in AI voice assistant and high compatibility with Meizu cell phones.
Other interior features include a two-spoke steering wheel, two cup holders, a small gear shifter, and illuminated city view patterns on the center console and door cards. The glove box of the Xingyuan EV offers up to 10 liters of space. The Geome’s hatchback has 35 storage compartments aside from that glove box. Its trunk volume reaches 375 liters. With the second-row seats folded, the space in the luggage compartment reaches 1,320 L. Moreover, you have a 70-liter frunk.
In contrast with exterior shades, there is no sign of ice cream in the names of Xingyuan’s interior colors. It is available in two colors Sky Mirror White and Wizard Green.
Geely Geome Xingyuan specs and sales start
The Geome Xingyuan has an 11-in-1 electric drive. The entry-level trim of the Xingyuan EV adopts the TZ160XS001 electric motor from GLB Power for 58 kW (78 hp). Its top speed reaches 125 km/h. The more powerful variant has the TZ160XS002 from the same manufacturer for 85 kW (114 hp). The top speed of this hatchback is 135 km/h. There are two LFP battery options made by CATL: 30.12 kWh for 310 km CLTC and 40.16 kWh for 410 CLTC.
Geely announced that Geome Xingyuan would enter the market in Q3 2024. Bearing in mind September is the latest month of the third quarter, it will start sales quite soon. The starting price of the Xingyuan may start from 80,000 yuan (11,250 USD). Geely officials underlined that people who will test drive the Xingyuan will get ice cream from Häagen-Dazs.
