Deepal L07 sedan to launch September 20 with Huawei vision based smart driving

The Deepal L07 was officially unveiled at the Chengdu Auto Show at the end of last month, and it is now revealed that the car will launch on September 20. It will come equipped with Huaweiโ€™s Qiankun intelligent driving ADS SE, and it claims to be the only medium-sized car equipped with the system under 200,000 yuan (28,200 USD).

Despite looking very similar to the brandโ€™s existing sedan, the SL03, the L07 is meant to be neither a replacement nor a facelift for the existing model. Instead, it is being positioned as a sedan with a focus on smart technologies. The L07 measures 4875, 1890, and 1480 mm, and its wheelbase is 2900 mm, making the only difference over the SL03 a 55 mm increase in length. It has an enclosed front grille design and, at the rear, an electric lifting rear spoiler. Overall, the car is quite slippery, with a drag coefficient of Cd 0.215.

Where things are clearly more different is with the interior. The new car adopts a similar design language to the Deepal S07. This means that unlike the SL03, the L07 switches to a 15.6-inch infotainment screen-only based system, doing away with the instrument panel. ย The screen can be tilted to either side by 15 degrees. Unlike in Cars such as the Tesla Model 3 and the Xpeng Mona M03, there is also a head-up display for drivers to use. This is a 55-inch augmented reality design from Huawei. Providing the computing power behind the cockpit systems is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip.

Both the driver and passenger get zero-gravity seats, with the driverโ€™s seat having 16-way electric adjustment and the passengerโ€™s seat having 12-way. Where the center console meets the dashboard, there is a fragrance dispenser, which is in front of a dual wireless mobile phone charging pad and a pair of drink holders.

The car will come with the SE version of the Huawei Qiankun ADS system. This is the vision-based version of Huaweiโ€™s third-generation smart driving solution. It provides high-speed navigation assistance, urban cruise assistance, and intelligent parking assistance.

The Deepal L07 is available in both fully electric and range-extended EV versions. Power for the BEV comes from a 185 kW electric motor. On the other hand, the EREV uses a 1.5 liter engine as the range extender and a 160 kjW electric motor for power. All electric range is up to 300 km and fuel consumption is 3.94 l/100 km under CLTC conditions. The L07 EREV is capable of 3C charging, meaning it can add the equivalent of 100 km range in ten minutes.

Deepal is a new energy vehicle brand from Changan.
