Denza Z9 GT launched in China for 47,450 USD eyeing Europe

The BYD’s Denza Z9 GT wagon with two refrigerators and three electric motors has entered China with PHEV and BEV powertrain options and a price range of 334,800 – 414,800 yuan (47,450 – 58,800 USD). This vehicle will soon head to Europe.

The Denza Z9 GT is a highly anticipated wagon developed by BYD for Global markets. It applied for a sales license in China in April this year. In August, it started presales in China with a price range of 339,800 – 419,800 yuan (48,150 – 59,500 USD). On September 20, the Denza Z9 GT officially started sales with a slightly sliced price range.

Briefly aboutthe Denza Z9 GT

The Denza Z9 GT is a sleek wagon designed by Audi veteran Wolfgang Egger. The all-electric Denza Z9 GT has a more modest front bumper with a smaller air intake in the center. And the PHEV variant has a bigger air intake.

In terms of exterior styling, the Z9 GT stays close to Porsche Panamera. Moreover, its body size is in line with the Porsche hatchback. The electric Z9 GT boasts hefty dimensions of 5180/1990/1480 mm. The PHEV variant is a bit larger due to more aggressive bumpers. Its length reaches 5195 mm. So, it is 128 mm longer than the Panamera.

The Denza Z9 GT is available in four body colors: silver, white, gray, and black. It rides on R21 wheels with 255/40 front and 275/40 rear tires. Another feature of the Denza Z9 GT is a turning rear axle.

Inside, the Denza Z9 GT has five seats. Its center console has a large suspended screen. Behind the wheel, the Z9 GT has an LCD instrument cluster. And there is a touchscreen for the front passenger. Its center tunnel has a retractable crystal gear shifter and two wireless charging pads. The front passenger seat has a zero-gravity mode and an electrically powered leg support.

The Denza Z9 GT has two refrigerators. The front one offers a 4-liter capacity. And the rear fridge has a 10-liter capacity. Other features of the Z9 GT cabin are a Devialet sound system and electrically adjustable second-row seats. Interior shade options are: “Dark Night + Prague Red” and “Silver Purple Mist + Pearl Gray”.

Denza Z9 GT powertrain

The Denza Z9 GT PHEV variant stands on the e3 platform and adopts the 5-gen DM system. It comprises a 2-liter turbocharged petrol engine for 152 kW (203 hp) and three electric motors with a combined power output of 640 kW (858 hp). Its zero-to-hundred acceleration time is 3.6 seconds. This sporty wagon has a 38.5 kWh LFP battery on board suitable for 201 km range. Its mixed range is around 1,100 km.

The Denza Z9 GT EV stands on the e-Platform 3.0 Evo architecture. It adopts three e-motors with a total power output of 710 kW (952 hp). The electric variant is slightly faster. It can accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. The battery of the Denza Z9 GT is also LFP with a capacity of 100.1 kWh. Its CLTC range reaches 630 km.

Denza Z9 GT prices

The Denza Z9 GT PHEV is available in three trim levels simply called Pro, Max, and Ultra. The Pro variant doesn’t have air suspension, a HUD, leg support and massage functions for the second-row passengers, and a streaming rearview mirror. It also has a single interior camera. All of the mentioned options are available in the Max trim level. The Ultra trim level adds electrically powered doors, Nappa leather seats, and 26 speakers.

During the launch event, Denza introduced the Limited First Edition (LFE) of the Z9 GT wagon. It is limited to 2010 units. This limited batch consists of Denza Z9 GT PHEV offered in two trim levels: Max and Ultra. Moreover, the Ultra variant has side-view cameras instead of mirrors and 16 surround-view cameras.

The Denza Z9 GT EV is available in Pro and Max trim levels. They stay in line with the PHEV variant in terms of functional equipment. However, there is no LFE version available for the BEV Denza Z9 GT. Anyway, here are the trims and prices of this cool wagon:

  • Denza Z9 GT PHEV Pro – 334,800 yuan (47,500 USD)
  • Denza Z9 GT PHEV Max – 364,800 yuan (51,700 USD)
  • Denza Z9 GT PHEV Ultra – 414,800 yuan (58,800 USD)
  • Denza Z9 GT PHEV Max LFE – 364,800 yuan (51,700 USD)
  • Denza Z9 GT PHEV Ultra LFE – 414,800 yuan (58,800 USD)
  • Denza Z9 GT EV – 354,800 yuan (50,300 USD)
  • Denza Z9 GT EV – 384,800 yuan (54,550 USD)

The Denza Z9 GT will enter Europe as the launch car of the Denza brand. Here, it will be positioned as a direct competitor for the German trio of BMW, Audi, and Mercedes.
