After multiple exposures and spy shots, the Hongqi E009 pure electric sedan was officially declared by the Chinese MIIT, indicating that it might soon enter the market with a price tag around 200,000 yuan (28,100 USD).
In April this year, the Hongqi E009 concept car appeared at the Beijing Auto Show. Previously, it was reported that the mass production might begin October 2025.
The dimensions of the Hongqi E009 mass-produced version are: 4820 mm long, 1915 mm wide, 1480 mm tall, and a 2900 mm wheelbase. There are two curb weights, 1890 kg and 2018 kg; and the total weight is 2340 kg and 2468 kg, respectively. The car runs on 235/50R18 tires. The approach angle and departure angle are 15Β° and 20Β°, respectively.
The Hongqi E009 is built based on Hongqiβs self-developed Tiangong Electric Platform. In terms of power, the E009 is equipped with an electric motor model CAM190PT6 with a maximum power of 210 kW (282 hp) and a lithium iron phosphate battery pack from CATL. At this time, the declaration information did not mention the vehicleβs specific range, charging time, and other powertrain parameters.
As an EV, the Hongqi E009 comes standard with a closed front face, paired with slender and sharp headlights, hidden door handles, and a rear ducktail. Other optional configurations include rim styles, rear camera, and front logo.
Hongqi new energy vehicle goal
By 2025, Hongqi aims to sell 1 million vehicles annually, of which new energy vehicle sales exceed 500,000 units. Over time, by 2030, Hongqi aims to sell more than 1.5 million vehicles annually, with new energy vehicles becoming the main driving force for sales. Furthermore, Hongqi hopes that by 2025, overseas sales will account for more than 10% of its total sales. Then by 2030, Hongqi hopes overseas sales will account for 25% of its total sales.
In the first half of this year, Hongqiβs wholesale sales exceeded 201,530 units, a year-on-year increase of 42.6%; while retail sales exceeded 190,950 units, a year-on-year increase of 25%.
