Zeekr exapands to Africa, signs deal to enter the Egyptian market

Zeekr is gearing up to debut the Zeekr 001 shooting brake and Zeekr X compact SUV in Egypt by the end of the year, taping the African market. The first store will open in Cairo.

Zeekr, Geely Group’s premium EV arm, has signed a distributorship agreement with Egyptian International Motors (EIM Group) to build a sales and service network in Egypt.

Zeekr plans to introduce the Zeekr 001 and Zeekr X first, with more models expected. Egypt, Africa’s second-largest car market, is seeing increased demand for Chinese-made EVs, spurred by government efforts to grow the electric vehicle sector.

Zeekr has expanded into over 35 markets, including Sweden, Australia, Thailand, the UAE, Singapore, and Mexico, spanning Europe, Asia, Oceania, and Latin America.

Founded in 2021, Zeekr launched its first model, the Zeekr 001, in April of that year, with deliveries beginning in October. Its European market strategy launched in 2023, with the Netherlands and Sweden as initial markets.

Beyond the Zeekr 001 and Zeekr X, the lineup includes the Zeekr 007 sedan, Zeekr 009 MPV, Zeekr 7X SUV, and Zeekr Mix minivan in China. The Mix, a five-seater BEV launched on October 23, has a design resembling an MPV, although Zeekr has not categorized it.

Zeekr plans to release a flagship SUV with a new PHEV powertrain in the second half of 2025, Zeekr CEO Andy An shared in August.

Zeekr’s recent performance saw 21,333 vehicles delivered in September, surpassing June’s record of 20,106 units. The third quarter recorded 55,003 deliveries, up 50% year-on-year.
