Recently, BYD’s Denza brand officially announced its entry into the Thai market. Following Hong Kong, Cambodia, and Singapore, Thailand is Denza’s fourth international market market in the Asia-Pacific region. At the same time, the brand will launch the Denza D9 Premium and Premium AWD versions, priced at 1,999,900 baht (421,000 yuan or 58,900 USD) and 2,699,900 baht (568,000 yuan or 79,600 USD), respectively.
BYD said that the current total number of orders for Denza vehicles has exceeded 250,000 units. Furthermore, Denza plans to set up five showrooms in Thailand and establish ten sales outlets within the year.
It is worth mentioning that the Thai government introduced the “3030” policy to increase the country’s electric vehicle production to 30% of the total automobile production by 2030, and by 2035, all new cars sold will be electric vehicles. So far, BYD has sold 56,000 new energy vehicles in Thailand, with 30,650 vehicles registered and licensed in 2023, accounting for over 40% of the Thai electric vehicle market share in that year.
Additionally, the total number of electric vehicle registrations in Thailand in 2023 was about 76,000 units, accounting for 12% of the total number of vehicle registrations. Among the top ten brands in terms of sales, Chinese brands occupy eight seats, with the BYD Atto 3 and the BYD Dolphin ranking first and third in sales, respectively, according to statistics from the Thai Automobile Association.
The Denza D9 Premium (see spec here) will be offered in four exterior paints: white, blue, gray, and black, with two interior options: brown and beige.
For reference, the 2024 Denza D9 has dimensions of 5250/1960/1920 mm and a 3110 mm wheelbase, available in three PHEV and two EV variants, powered by either single-motor or dual-motors. The PHEV variant offers three comprehensive cruising ranges: 970 km, 980 km, and 1,050 km; while the EV variant offers two CLTC cruising ranges: 600 km and 620 km.
