The Denza N9 SUV debuted on November 15 at the Guangzhou Auto Show. Previously we only knew information about the PHEV variant thanks to the MIIT listing. We now can confirm that there is an all-electric version and that it has a total power of 710 kW.
Together with the Denza Z9 and Z9 GT, the N9 will be a flagship model for the Denza brand. All three cars use the sameΒ DenzaΒ e3 (Yi san fang)Β platform. This supports functions such as independent steering of the rear wheels with dual motors and is equipped with air suspension to provideΒ better handling.
The Denza N9 features an enclosed grille and narrow headlight clusters at the front. Reportedly, the front face contains an upper and lower air intake grille that can be opened and closed. Furthermore, there is a Lidar unit above the windshield, meaning the car will come with an advanced smart driving capability, possibly BYDβs Eye of the Gods system.
The body measures 5,258 mm long, 2,030 mm wide, and 1,830 mm high, and the N9 has a wheelbase of 3,125 mm. These measurements are for the PHEV variant, and it is possible the all-electric version might be slightly different. Buyers have a choice between 21 and 22-inch wheels with yellow brake calipers. The PHEV has a curb weight of 3130 or 3245 kg, depending on the version.
Powering the PHEV N9 is a 200 kW TZ210XYD on the front axle and a 240 kW TZ220XYAM electric motor powering each of the rear wheels for a total power output of 680 kW. There is also a 2.0T BYD479ZQA unit that can deliver up to 152 kW of power. Battery power comes from a 47 kWh lithium iron phosphate blade battery pack which can give an all-electric range of 165 km. Top speed for the car is 230 km/h.
The EV version will also have a three-motor setup and slightly more powerful motors, with a total output of 710 kW. Currently, there is no information about the battery pack size, although we know it will also use a blade battery.
Interestingly, BYD is still not willing to show off the interior, with the car being displayed at the Guangzhou Show with blacked-out windows. However, it is expected that the interior will follow a similar format to the Z9 GT.
Inside, the Denza flagship SUV has three rows of seats with a 2 + 2 + 3 layout. Its second row offers two independent captain chairs. Its center console has a three-screen design. Another feature of the Denza N9 is a storage box with heating and cooling functions.
There is still a possibility that sales of the PHEV version may start this year, but currently, early next year looks more likely.
