At the Guangzhou Auto Show, Denza announced that the luxury sedan Denza Z9 will start deliveries in early December. Display vehicles have already begun arriving at dealerships nationwide. Test drives will be available by the end of the month.
The Denza Z9 was officially launched at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show. The vehicle has a starting price of 334,800 yuan (46,200 USD) for the plug-in hybrid version and 354,800 yuan (49,000 USD) for the pure electric version.
More on the Denza Z9
The overall design of the Denza Z9 is consistent with the Denza Z9 GT, featuring sleek headlights paired with independent LED light strips. The front grille includes a black mesh air intake, flanked by laser radars on each side. The plug-in hybrid version also features an active grille above the license plate.
The Z9 adopts a sedan-style three-box design, with larger rear triangle windows and no black trim on the sides, unlike the Z9 GT. The rear features hourglass-shaped taillights, an illuminated Denza logo, and a body-colored rear bumper with a powered spoiler.
The plug-in hybrid version measures at 5235/1990/1500 mm, with a wheelbase of 3125mm. The pure electric version is slightly shorter at 5220 mm.
The front cabin largely retains the design of the Z9 GT, with a 13.2-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 17.3-inch central touchscreen, a 13.2-inch front passenger entertainment screen, and a 50-inch heads-up display. The gear shifter has been upgraded to a column-style design, freeing up space in the center console for a covered storage compartment, cup holders, and a central armrest. Two 50-watt wireless phone charging pads remain standard.
The rear cabin offers significant upgrades, including 8-way power-adjustable seats, 2-way manual adjustable headrests, electric leg rests, and seat cushions that can move forward by 65 mm and tilt upward by 10 degrees. The vehicle is also equipped with the same advanced features found on the Z9 GT including a crab-walking mode (diagonal movement), compass-like U-turns, and advanced autonomous parking.
The Denza Z9 offers both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and pure electric versions.
- PHEV Version: Powered by a 2.0T engine and three motors (one front, two rear):
- 2.0T engine: Maximum output of 152 kW
- Front motor: Maximum output of 200 kW
- Two rear motors: Each with a maximum output of 240 kW.
- Battery: 38.5 kWh LFP battery with a CLTC electric range of 201 km
- Pure Electric Version:
- Front motor: Maximum output of 230 kW
- Two rear motors: Each with a maximum output of 240 kW
- Battery: 100 kWh LFP battery with a CLTC electric range of 630 km
The Denza Z9 is expected to compete with other NEV luxury sedan models such as the Avatr 12 and the Nio ET7. Most of the competition, however, offer only pure electric power-trains. As hybrid power-trains grow in popularity in China, the Z9 is expected to fill in the hybrid luxury sedan niche for Denza and the greater BYD line-up.
