On November 26 at the Huawei Press Conference, Richard Yu officially announced that HIMA had delivered more than 500,000 cars in 32 months. This, it is claimed, is the fastest time for a new energy brand to achieve such a sales level.
Much of the sales performance has been achieved this year. The brand only achieved the 200,000 mark in February. By May, this level had increased to 300,000, and in July, deliveries reached 400,000.
It should be pointed out that Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) is not really a brand in the strict sense; it is an amalgamation of four brands currently under Huawei stewardship and with different OEM partners. Under this, Huawei not only provides an intelligent cockpit and intelligent driving solution but is also involved with elements including the design, production, sales, after-sales, and other stages of the vehicle but stops short of actually producing the car.
The current four brands are Aito (Seres), Luxeed (Chery), and Stelato (BAIC), which are on sale, and JAC tie-up brand Maextro which unveiled its first car, the S800, today.
Richard Yu (Yu Chengdong), chairman of Huawei’s smart car unit, in his speech, singled out three models: the Aito M7, Aito M9, and Luxeed R7. The Aito M7, which launched in July 2022, has accounted for almost half the total, with 170,000 being delivered this year alone. Sales, however, only really began to take off last year when a revised version of the car was launched. Subsequently, this year, both the Pro and Ultra versions were launched.
HIMA’s flagship SUV the Aito M9 reached cumulative sales of 180,000. For a long time, the only real success under HIMA has been the AITO brand.
This has now changed with the launch of the Luxeed R7. Although it was only launched earlier this year, the model has achieved sales of 42,000 in two months.
Despite being manufactured by different OEMs, the cars’ ecosystems are highly similar. All cars use the Harmony OS operating system along with Huawei’s ADAS features.
It’s claimed that, cumulatively, up to November, the brand has achieved 930 million kilometers of intelligent driving experience and 58.35 million uses of the auto parking function. Furthermore, it’s claimed that collisions have been avoided 893,000 times. The brand boasts access to more than 88,000 charging stations.
Yu announced that in December, the four bosses of the brands that make up HIMA will gather in Hainan to conduct a live broadcast of CCTV News.
HIMA began with the Aito brand with Seres, which launched its first car, the M5 SUV, in 2022. Luxeed joined in 2023 with the launch of the S7 sedan. This year, Stelato joined with the launch of the S9 sedan. Maextro will start selling the S800 sedan in the first half of 2025.
