Nio ET9 flagship electric sedan with 120 kWh battery exposed before launch

Spy shots of the Nio ET9 interior appeared just two days ago. Now, as the car gets ready to launch on Nio Day later this month, on December 21, the whole car has been exposed. Notably, we learn that the ET9 will include a large frunk.

As we reported days ago, the Nio ET9 uses a steering column-mounted stalk for drive selection, switching away from the previous Nio location of the drive selector on the center console. Furthermore, we can see the screen setup.

The rectangular multifunction steering wheel is reportedly equipped with steer-by-wire technology. There is also an AR head-up display system that provides the equivalent of a 120-inch display effect.

A picture of the second row shows two back-of-the-front seat-mounted entertainment units. The two independent seats reportedly contain 24 self-developed patent technologies. The seat cushion width is up to 582 mm, and the backrest angle can be adjusted to 45 degrees. There is also reportedly an executive-style desk and a refrigerator, so the experience is like business class.

The Skyride intelligent chassis system incorporates rear-wheel steering and fully active suspension. It can provide 1000 torque adjustments per second and four-wheel independent control to meet the needs of different driving scenarios.

Nio’s own Shenji NX9031, a 5 nm automotive-grade intelligent driving chip, powers the car’s systems. This chip is combined with the SkyOS Tianshu operating system for a self-developed intelligent system architecture.

The car’s dimensions are 5324/2016/1620mm, and the wheelbase is 3250 mm, making it by far the largest Nio to date. It should also be pointed out that with that height, the car is more like an SUV coupe, not only in looks, than a sedan. The weight is 2700 kg.

Nio’s flagship rides on 23-inch Pirelli PZERO EV-specific tires. Along with a frunk the car has rear privacy glass, and double dash daytime running lights.

Pre-sales prices put the car at 800,000 yuan (110,000 USD). The Nio ET9 will come with a new 120 kWh battery pack and features the first global 900 V high-voltage architecture in China. Deliveries are set to begin in early 2025.
