Recently, the Chinese MIIT exposed the range information and battery capacity of the domestically produced Volvo EX90 pure electric SUV, which has a maximum range of 730 km. Five trims were declared at this time. The official launch is expected to be in 2025. The Volvo EX90 is the electrified version of the Volvo XC90 gasoline-powered SUV.Β
In terms of power, all of the five made-in-China Volvo EX90 trims adopt dual-motor four-wheel drive, paired with 111 kWh ternary lithium battery packs, providing range options of 710 km and 730 km (assuming under CLTC conditions). The battery weighs 663 kg. Each trim has a different vehicle curb weight: 2732 kg, 2751 kg, 2764 kg, 2745 kg, and 2780 kg. The top speed is 180 km/h.
- Low-power trims: 173 kW (232 hp) front electric motor, 127 kW (170 hp) rear electric motor
- High-power trims: 180 kW (241 hp) front electric motor, 200 kW (268 hp) rear electric motor
Furthermore, the previously declared high-power trims have a 0 β 100 km/h acceleration time of 4.9 seconds and a fast charging time of 30 minutes to replenish from 10% to 80%.
Judging from the declaration images, the design is consistent with that of the overseas variant, with elements such as a closed front grille, a luminous brand logo, hidden door handles, and C-shaped taillights. The tail mark is the Volvo Asia Pacific logo, signifying the carβs status as a Chinese domestic version.
An active grille is also incorporated to optimize airflow to improve efficiency. Additionally, some trims come with dual-color bodies. Optional configurations include 21-inch and 22-inch rims, as well as headlight washers and privacy glass.
Built based on Volvoβs SPA2 platform (Scalable Product Architecture), the length, width, and height of the domestically produced Volvo EX90 are 5037/1964/1747 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 2985 mm. The length is 84 mm longer than the Volvo XC90 currently on the market.
Inside, the cockpit continues the Volvo familyβs design and features a layered dashboard that integrates the air-conditioning outlet, a 14.5-inch vertical central control screen, and a full LCD instrument panel. The interior configuration is also expected to provide front seat heating/ventilation, an air quality detection system, and level 2 advanced driving assistance capabilities.
