On December 8, the GAC-Toyota joint venture announced that its first “new force pure electric SUV” – bZ3X – has officially opened for online blind orders, available in three trims: 430 Air+, 520 Pro+, and 620 Max. The pre-sale price range is 100,000 – 200,000 yuan (13,800 – 27,500 USD). The official launch will be in March next year. By paying a deposit of 2,000 yuan (275 USD), customers can enjoy priority delivery.
Outside, the GAC-Toyota bZ3X is claimed to adopt the “pure electric aesthetics” design language, featuring split headlights, hidden door handles, a 1.14㎡ panoramic sunroof, blackened side mirrors, side skirts, and wheel arches. It is worth pointing out that the daytime running lights are designed with a slender crystal light strip composed of 112 LEDs along with eight light language interactions such as starting, shutting down, charging, and locating the car.
On the lower right corner of the tailgate is the “BEV” logo. Consumers can choose from seven paint options: Sky White, Pure Snow White, Distant Mountain Gray, Bright Moon Silver, Vast Black, Sky Pink, and Cyber Gold. The car runs on either 18 or 19-inch rims.
The dimensions of the GAC-Toyota bZ3X are 4600/1875/1645 mm, with a wheelbase of 2765 mm. The declared vehicle curb weight is 1,690 kg by the Chinese MIIT.
Another highlight of the car is its Momenta 5.0 advanced driving assistance system (ADAS), powered by the Nvidia DRIVE AGX Orin X chip and realized via 27 sensors, including 11 high-definition cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars, 3 millimeter-wave radars, and a lidar, without relying on high-definition maps. Over 25 ADAS capabilities are supported such as speed limit assist, traffic light assist, remote parking, and blind spot monitoring, to name a few.
The GAC-Toyota bZ3X is powered by an electric motor model TZ175XSAY501 produced by Guangzhou Nidec Auto Drive System Co., Ltd. with a maximum power of 150 kW (201 hp), paired with a 50.03 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, providing a corresponding range of 430 km (assuming under CLTC conditions), according to the Chinese MIIT. The battery pack weighs 377.4 kg. The other two range options are likely 520 km and 620 km given the names of the trims. The official fast charging time is 24 minutes to replenish from 30% to 80%.
Inside, the cockpit has a two-spoke multi-function steering wheel, an 8.8-inch LCD instrument panel, and a 14.6-inch floating central control screen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip that supports voice recognition.
The rear row is equipped with air-conditioning vents and a foldable armrest. Mobile phone wireless charging, 32-color ambient lighting, seven SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) airbags, and an 11-speaker Yamaha audio system are also present.
In addition, the front seats can lay flat with the touch of a button.
