Southern California Edison orders electric pickup fleet for utility services

Southern California Edison plans to add more than 280 Silverado EV work trucks to its fleet. This move is geared towards reducing the company’s fleet emissions and lower ownership costs. As Todd Carlson, Principal Manager of Fleet for Southern California Edison, states: “The deployment represents a pivotal step in SCE’s commitment to electrify our fleet and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”

As the Chevrolet Silverado EV electric pickup truck is designed to handle the most challenging jobs, Southern California Edison can count on it for its electric utility services. Details about the electric vehicle model are still scarce, but it may likely be the newly launched 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV, which has an EPA-estimated range of 492 miles (approximately 792 kilometres). Sandor Piszar, vice president of GM Envolve, says: “The Silverado EV WT combines the performance and reliability commercial customers expect with the benefits and low cost of ownership of electric propulsion.”

Southern California Edison has a vision to achieve an all-electric light-duty fleet. This development is in line with the goal of the electric utility company to electrify 30% of its medium-duty vehicles and pickup trucks and 8% of its heavy-duty trucks. Piszar added: “We are excited to help innovative customers like Southern California Edison to meet their electrification goals with the Chevrolet Silverado EV WT as part of their fleet transformation.”
