The BYD Sealion 05 EV compact crossover for global markets revealed its interior for the first time as the car was spotted during road tests. Its in-cabin design adopts a fresh design language. The new electric SUV adopts an e-motor with a peak power of 160 kW (214 hp).
Sealion is a series of NEV crossovers under the BYD brand. The Sealion 07 EV became the first car under the newly formed line. Later, BYD launched the Sealion 05 DM-i crossover based on the BYD Song Pro. Moreover, the BYD Song Plus DM-i sells internationally as the Sealion 06 DM-i. This month, BYD applied for sales licenses for two more Sealion series models: Sealion 07 DM and the Sealion 05 EV. Interior of the latter crossover was exposed in China during road tests.
BYD Sealion 05 EV interior
The interior of the BYD Sealion 05 EV was seen for the first time in China as the car was spotted during road tests. The car in the photos is a pre-production model that still has yet to be finished. However, it has some distinguishing elements.
The center console of the BYD Sealion 05 EV has a 12.8-inch suspended touchscreen similar to the Sealion 05 DM-i. The LCD instrument panel sits behind the three-spoke D-shaped steering wheel, and the gear shifter also sits behind the wheel. The center console of the Sealion 05 EV is covered with heavy camouflage. However, we can highlight that it adopts vertically aligned air vents.
The test car has no center tunnel. However, it adopts sporty seats with integrated headrests and notable side support. The car’s door cards have shell-shaped door handles. The Sealion 05 EV may also have a head-up display.

The Sealion 05 EV is a compact crossover with dimensions of 4520/1860/1630 mm. It is notably smaller than its PHEV sibling, which has a body length of 4710 mm. The Sealion 05 EV seems like an alternative to the BYD Atto 3 (Yuan Plus). These two models will be sold in China simultaneously. However, there is a chance the Sealion 05 EV will replace the Atto 3 internationally since it adopts the brand’s latest DNA.
The BYD Sealion 05 EV has large elongated headlights joined with an LED strip. Its front bumper has a trapeze-shaped air intake and an X-shaped pattern. There is plastic trim all around the lower part of the Sealion 05 EV’s body. The new car also adopts flush door handles and blackened pillars. From the back, the Sealion 05 EV has a single taillight unit and a sporty roof spoiler.
The electric crossover from BYD adopts two e-motor options. The first one has a peak power of 140 kW (188 hp). The second electric motor option generates 160 kW (214 hp). There is no information about the battery specs of the BYD’s new vehicle. The Sealion 05 EV will enter the Chinese market in 2025. It will also likely sell internationally as the Sealion is positioned as the global car line.
