Spy shots of yet another new BYD SUV have appeared on the Chinese Internet. Itβs believed that the new car belongs to the Ocean series, and it is speculated that the car will be known as the Sealion 06 EV.
As seen in the spy shots from Autohome, the car is still in the early stages of development. However, it is possible to see the outline of headlight clusters, which appear to be similar to those of the Sealion 07 EV. At the side, the car appears to have semi-hidden door handles. The rear of the new SUV looks more similar to the Sealion 05 than the 07. Most likely, under the camouflage is a through-tail light.
Interior spy shots show the basic structure of the inside of the car. These reveal that the interior is in line with other cars in the Ocean series. There is a floating infotainment screen, which most likely is rotatable, and there is also an LCD instrument panel. The car has a four-spoke steering wheel typical of the Ocean series and also a center console-mounted drive selector surrounded by various controls.
The Sealion 07 EV (see specs) measures 4830, 1925, 1620 mm (l/w/h) and has a wheelbase of 2930 mm. BYDβs new SUV will definitely be smaller than this and likely ride on the e-platform 3.0 Evo.
From the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology listing information this month, we know there will also be a Sealion 05 EV. Although the spied car and the Sealion 05 EV share some similarities, such as the semi-hidden door handles and the front lights, there also appear to be significant differences at the rear, leading us to believe that this is not the same car.
Dimensions of the Sealion 05 EV are 4520, 1860, 1630 mm (l/w/h), and the wheelbase is 2720 mm. Assuming the spy car is indeed the Sealion 06 EV, it should slot somewhere between the 05 and 07 and be approaching 4700 mm in length.
