On December 30, Deepal reported that its 400,000th car had left The production line. This means that the brand has gone from 0 to 400,000 cars in 29 months.
This is claimed to be some form of record for the Changan-owned brand. However, this claim is based on vague wording about βin the same market,β and it is not entirely clear what it involves.
More significantly, Deepal only declared a cumulative sales volume of 300,000 in October. This shows that the brand has increasingly good sales. During November and December, the brand managed to sell more than 30,000 units each month.
Deepal took 14 months to achieve its first 100,000 In September 2023. Sales began in 2022 with the SL03 sedan. With the launch of the brandβs second model, the S7 SUV, the brand managed to deliver 10,000 of the S7 within 35 days.
Currently, the brand has five models: the SL03, S07 (formerly S7), G318, L07, and S05. With the exception of the G318, which is only available as a range-extended EV, all the other models are available in both all-electric and range-extended versions.
Although December is not fully over, it is believed that sales will exceed 36,000 for the month and that the total for 2024 will be over 240,000. Helping propel the sales growth has been the new S05 SUV which managed to gain 21,730 orders in one month.
Deepal has ambitious plans for 2025 targeting sales of half a million, of these 400,000 are expected to be for the domestic market with an additional 100,000 overseas. Helping the brand achieve this will be two new models. These include the flagship S09 SUV, which should launch in the next few months, having already been declared in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology listing information.
Itβs claimed that by the end of 2025, the brand will be available in 81 countries. Deepal entered the Thai market in early 2024. Thailand was the brandβs first overseas market and the company is also building a plant in the country set to open in early 2025. This should help propel sales in Southeast Asia. Furthermore, the S07 has already been tested in Euro-NCAP, indicating a possible start in European sales.
