Zeekr to launch two plug-in hybrids in 2025, aiming for 320,000 deliveries

Andy An, Geely Group President, revealed on Wednesday that Zeekr would launch three new models in 2025, including two plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) and a station wagon variant of Zeekr 007.

Zeekr used to be an all-electric brand under the Geely Group, but this will change in 2025 as more Chinese consumers switch preferences towards PHEVs.

The company plans to launch a station wagon variant of the Zeekr 007 sedan in the second quarter of 2025. CarNewsChina obtained theΒ spy shotsΒ of the new wagon codenamed CC1E in November, with more exterior featuresΒ revealedΒ last week.

The 007 is Zeekr’s answer to the Tesla Model 3 in China. The top trim level features a 100 kWh NMC battery from CATL, good for the 660 km CLTC range. Dual motors provide 475 kW of power and 2.8 seconds of 0-100km/h acceleration. The 4.9-meter sedan starts at 209,900 yuan (28,750 USD) in China.

In the fourth quarter of 2025, the company will unveil a mid-size SUV codenamed EX1E, also with all-electric and PHEV powertrain options.

Zeekr didn’t reveal many details about the new PHEV powertrain specs. Andy An called it a Super Hybrid system, claiming it will combine the advantages of all-electric cars and PHEVs. β€œThe powertrain is designed for low energy consumption on highways while still providing a seamless all-electric driving experience.”, An said.

According to CarnewsChina information, the Super Hybrid system will be a slightly adjusted variant of Geely’s newest EM-i Leishen plug-in hybrid system.

Geely revealed the Leishen EM-i, previously known as NordThor EM-i, on October 30 in China. The company claims that it has better specs than BYD’s DM 5.0 powertrain, offering fuel consumption of 2.67 l/100km and a mixed range of up to 2,390 km.

Zeekr’s Super Hybrid system is expected to be unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April.

PHEVs are gaining wide popularity in China. In 2024 (Jan – Nov), BEV (all-electric vehicle) sales rose 15.6% to 6,741,000 units, while PHEV increased 86.4% to 4,515,000 units.

For example, BYD’s 2024 growth was driven mainly by PHEVs. In 2023, the company sold 1.57 million BEVs and 1.48 million PHEVs, while in 2024, BEVs rose only slightly to 1.76 million units, and PHEVs increased to nearly 2.5 million units.

Zeekr’s 2025 delivery target

Andy An also announced the company’s target of 320,000 deliveries for 2025 – an increase of nearly 100,000 units compared to the 222,123 vehicles delivered in 2024. Moreover, in 2024, Zeekr added 150 stores globally, bringing the total number to 538.

Zeekr is part of the Geely Group, which set a 2025 sales target of 2.71 million vehicles. Of it, 1.5 million should be electric.

Zeekr sold 222,123 EVs globally in 2024, up 87.3% from 118,585 units in 2023. The company narrowly missed its 2024 sales target of 230,000 units.
