The BYD Tang L, the latest addition to BYDβs Dynasty series, is expected to be officially unveiled on January 17 at the companyβs Shenzhen headquarters. It was recently spotted on the highway with a roof-mounted drone docking station. This marks its departure from the older BYD Tang model, providing a more advanced design and technological edge.
The vehicle adopts BYDβs signature βDragon Faceβ design language, offering a distinct look compared to its predecessor. One notable feature is the optional roof-mounted drone docking system, designed to assist with outdoor activities and remote exploration.
The SUV is built on BYDβs e-Platform 3.0 for its EV variants and incorporates DM 5.0 technology in the PHEV models. It measures 5040 mm in length, 1996 mm in width, and 1760 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2950 mm. The addition of the drone docking system increases the height to 1970 mm.
The Tang L interior is expected to offer a spacious and luxurious cabin with seven passengers. It will include a floating central control screen, a D-shaped steering wheel, and a center console with wireless charging and cup holders.
The EV variants include two options: a single motor producing 500 kW (671 hp) or a dual-motor setup with a 230 kW (308 hp) front motor and a 580 kW (778 hp) rear motor. The PHEV models use a 1.5T engine paired with a single 200 kW (268 hp) motor or a dual-motor configuration producing up to 400 kW (536 hp). Pure electric ranges for the PHEV options are 135 km, 150 km, or 165 km, depending on the configuration.
The vehicleβs curb weight is 2675β2967 kg, and its towing capacity is 2000 kg. Other features include roof-mounted lidar, rear cameras, and 20-inch or 21-inch rims. More details will be revealed at its official debut.
