In the second week of February, Nio was down 39%, and BYD was down 8%, while Xpeng was up 27% and Tesla 11%, compared with the week before. Nio didnβt qualify for the top ten EV startups leaderboard., Onvo registered 1,100 units.
The weekly sales are published by Li Auto or Dongchedi, and despite Liβs not explicitly saying it, they are based on insurance registration data. The numbers are rounded and present new energy vehicles (NEV) sales, the Chinese term for BEVs, PHEVs, and EREVs (range extenders). To be completely precise, it also includes hydrogen vehicles (FCEVs), but their sales are almost non-existent in China. Onvo registrations are not published by Li Auto but come fromΒ China EV DataTracker.
Keep in mind that insurance registration and sales/deliveries are different datasets. Regulator-related automotive associations report insurance registration, while delivery data are self-reported by automakers, which might include show cars, test cars, and otherΒ instruments.
Week 10 of 2025 (W10) was between March 3 and 9.
BYD remained in the top position with 57,400 insurance registrations in China, down 8.0% from 62,400 units the previous week.

Wuling recorded 15,400 registrations, a slight decline of 1.9% from 15,700 units the prior week.
Tesla saw an increase with 13,800 registrations, up 11.3% from 12,400 units the previous week.
Breakdown to models:
- New Model Y: 8,700 units
- Model 3: 5,100 units

Xpeng registered 8,500 vehicles, growing 26.9% from 6,700 units the prior week.
Guangzhou-based automaker outsold even Li Auto and got the first spot among EV startups. Xpeng registrations are powered by the Mona M03 entry-level sedan, contributing about half of the sales in the last two months.
Li Auto remained stable with 7,300 registrations, unchanged from the previous week.
GAC Aion recorded 6,600 registrations, declining 8.3% from 7,200 units the week before.
Xiaomi registered 6,200 units, down 8.8% from 6,800 units the prior week.

Leapmotor maintained steady numbers with 5,900 registrations, the same as the previous week.
Deepal entered the list with 4,600 registrations.
Zeekr saw 3,100 registrations, down 13.9% from 3,600 units the previous week.
Aito registered 2,600 units, dropping 31.6% from 3,800 units the prior week.
Denza recorded 2,400 registrations, increasing by 4.3% from 2,300 units the previous week.
Luxeed registered 2,300 vehicles, reflecting a 14.8% drop from 2,700 units in the previous week.
Nio saw 1,900 registrations, declining 38.7% from 3,100 units the previous week.

OnvoΒ registered 1,100 units of its only car, the L60 SUV, down 38.9% from 1,800 units the previous week.
Onvo CEO Alan Ai previously claimed that Onvo will deliver 10,000 units in December and 20,000 units in March. While the December target was met, the March target seems unlikely to be fulfilled for Nioβs entry-level brand.
Onvo previously faced accusations of forcing its employees to buy an L60 SUV at a discounted staff price during the end-of-the-year sales push. Employees could then sell it back to the company after six months. NioΒ deniedΒ those allegations asΒ individual failure, blaming the local sales manager for being βtoo eager.β

Together, Nio Group had 3,000 registrations in China, down 38.9% from 4,900 units the week before.
