The Avatr 06 is a mid-size sedan developed by Changan, CATL, and Huawei. It will be available in battery-electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) variants. Equipped with Huaweiβs Qiankun ADAS system and HarmonyOS, the Avatr 06 emphasizes advanced technology and autonomous driving capabilities. According to Avatr CEO Cheng Zhuoβs Weibo post, Avatr 06 is already arriving at dealerships across China. It will be available for pre-orders starting 27 March and officially launched in April.

Avatr is a joint venture between Changan and CATL, with Huawei serving as a key supplier of components, including the operating system, chips, and electric motors. The Avatr 06 is the brandβs fourth model, joining the Avatr 11 SUV, Avatr 12 liftback, and Avatr 07 crossover.

The sedan features the brandβs Avatr 2.0 design language, characterized by two-story LED running lights, a closed front end, and an active air intake in the front bumper. Measuring 4855 mm in length, 1960 mm in width, and 1450 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2940 mm, the Avatr 06 includes cameras instead of traditional side-view mirrors, retractable door handles, a blackened roof, and a ducktail spoiler, giving it a sleek and modern appearance.

Inside, the Avatr 06 offers a high-tech and luxurious cabin. The centre console integrates a 35.4-inch screen serving as an instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch main screen, both running on Huaweiβs HarmonyOS. Side-view camera displays are positioned next to the large screen for improved visibility, and the car also features a digital rear-view mirror. The interior includes premium materials such as Nappa leather, ultra-suede, birch wood, a fragrance system, ambient lighting, and a 25-speaker Meridian sound system.

The Avatr 06 will be available in two powertrain configurations. The BEV version offers rear-wheel drive (RWD) with a maximum power output of 252 kW (338 hp) or dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) with 440 kW (590 hp). It uses an 82 kWh LFP battery, providing a CLTC range of 610β650 km. The EREV version features a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine as a generator, paired with a rear electric motor delivering 231 kW (310 hp). It is equipped with a 39 kWh LFP battery, offering an electric range of 170β240 km and a total hybrid range of up to 1,100 km.

It will start at around 250,000 yuan (approximately 34,600 USD) and compete directly with models like the Tesla Model 3, Zeekr 007, and Xiaomi SU7 in the mid-size electric sedan segment.

Avatrβs sales performance has been modest, with 45,445 vehicles sold from January to November 2024, falling short of its annual target. The introduction of the Avatr 06 is part of the brandβs strategy to strengthen its market position and increase sales volume.
