2025 Aito M9 from Huawei launched in China with four LiDARs

The updated Aito M9 full-size SUV from Seres and Huawei was launched in China with four LiDARs and a starting price of 469,800 yuan (64,970 USD). This large vehicle offers EREV and BEV powertrain variants. It adopts a few enhancements to keep the sales volume of this model higher.

Aito M9 started deliveries in China in February 2024, quickly becoming a huge market success. Its cumulative deliveries reached 171,269 units, according to China EV DataTracker. To keep the sales volume high, Seres and Huawei prepared the updated variant of the M9. It started sales in China on March 20.

The 2025 model year Aito M9 stays in line with the previous model. It adopts distinguishing headlights joined by an LED strip. It has a minimalistic front bumper and a sizeable air intake. The rear end of the Aito M9 has a gauntlet-shaped taillight unit. Other features of the car’s exterior include blackened B and C pillars, hidden door handles, and multi-spoke wheels.

However, the Aito M9 adopts some fine exterior enhancements. It adopts a new red body shade with beige-colored A and D pillars. It also has new optional 21-inch rims. Another highlight of the updated M9 is four LiDARs instead of one sensor of the previous model. The Aito flagship crossover boasts dimensions of 5230/1999/1800 mm with a wheelbase of 3110 mm.

The 2025 Aito M9 interior also aligns with its predecessor. It is available with five- and six-seat layout variants. The center console of the M9 has a large triple screen. It integrates a 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel, a 15.6-inch main screen, and a 16-inch front passenger monitor. However, the updated model offers a few notable enhancements, including power thigh support for the driver’s seat, an upgraded projector, and a new storage box with cooling and heating functions.

Intelligent driving and powertrain

One of the upgrades of the Aito M9 is the new driving assistance system. Thanks to four LiDAR sensors, it supports passing through park gates, roundabouts, and complex roads. It also supports the cross-level parking valet function with automatic ramps, uphill, downhill, and curve recognition. Another feature of the 2025 M9 is the Huawei Galaxy satellite communication model, which allows continuous driving calls.

The EREV variant of the 2025 Aito M9 also got a notable upgrade. The previously available 42 kWh battery was discontinued. Now, this vehicle is available with a 52 kWh ternary NMC pack, suitable for 290 km of electric range under CLTC conditions. Another upgrade is the 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol-powered range extender. Its power output was boosted to 118 kW (158 hp). The Aito M9 EREV boasts a dual-motor 4WD with a total power output of 365 kW (489 hp). The mixed range of the Aito M9 is 1,474 km.

The all-electric variant of the Aito M9 remained the same with a 100 kWh ternary NMC battery powering two electric motors for 390 kW (523 hp). The electric range of this vehicle reaches 630 km under CLTC conditions.
