Aito M8 EREV with 1,526 km range received more than 70,000 orders two weeks after pre-sale opened

On March 20, Aito announced that the pre-sale orders for its Aito M8 EREV “smart family flagship” SUV exceeded 70,000 units since the opening on March 6, with a price range of 368,000 – 458,000 yuan (50,800 – 63,200 USD). The official launch will be in April. Customers who placed an order with a 5,000 yuan (690 USD) deposit can enjoy an 10,000 yuan (1,400 USD) deduction from the purchase price.

Looking back, the number of orders exceeded 7,500 units within one hour after the pre-sale started, then exceeded 21,000 units within 6 hours, and reached 28,000 within 12 hours.

In terms of product positioning, the Aito M8 is the brand’s fourth model after the M5, M7, and M9, which are positioned as mid-size, mid-to-large, and large SUVs, respectively, with a price range covering 200,000 – 600,000 yuan (27,600 – 83,000 USD). The Aito M8 is positioned as a medium-to-large SUV with a size of 5190/1999/1795 mm and a wheelbase of 3105 mm.

Additionally, the Huawei ADS 3.0 advanced driving system is onboard the Aito M8, which has a 192-line lidar, seven millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 11 high-definition cameras. The ADS can identify obstacles (vehicles, pedestrians) and various special-shaped obstacles.

The EREV powertrain consists of an 1.5T engine as the range-extender with a maximum power of 118 kW (158 hp), a 165 kW (221 hp) front electric motor, and a 227 kW (304 hp) rear electric motor. The official lowest WLTC fuel consumption is 0.52L/100km and the top speed is 200 km/h. Furthermore, two capacities of lithium iron phosphate or ternary lithium batteries are supplied by CATL: 51.975 kWh and 36.019 kWh, providing a CLTC pure electric range of 310 km and 201 km, respectively. The comprehensive range is 1,526 km under a full charge and full fuel tank.

At the same time, Aito M8’s “Giant Whale” battery pack structure reduces the wiring harness by 80% and the thickness by 16.4%, according to the official. Under 800V high-voltage fast charging, it takes five minutes to replenish 150 km of range.

Coming to the interior, the cockpit adopts a symmetrical design, featuring the familiar triple screens and a 75-inch HUD.

Both 5- and 6-seater layouts are also available. At this time, the detailed interior configurations still need to be released by Aito.
