The Chinese NEV maker Xpeng began presales of the 2025 model year X9 minivan in China with a 40,000 yuan (~5,500 USD) higher price than the 2024 model. He Xiaopeng’s company goes against the trend of continuous price reduction. Instead, the company seemingly enhanced the Xpeng X9’s equipment.
The Xpeng X9 minivan started sales in China in January 2024. The family-focused model was available for purchase in a 359,800 – 419,800 yuan (49,250 – 57,450 USD) price range. Despite offering some impressive tech such as air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and the XNGP driver’s assistance system, the X9 hasn’t become a hot seller. Its cumulative deliveries from January 2024 to February 2025 are 23,309 units, according to the China EV DataTracker.



On April 8, Xpeng kicked off presales of the 2025 model year X9 minivan. According to the automaker, the newly released minivan has 496 updated components. What is more, Xpeng went against the grain by seemingly raising the price of the minivan.
More about the 2025 Xpeng X9
At first sight, the 2025 Xpeng X9 retains the appearance of its predecessor. However, it has some noticeable highlights. One of them is the absence of the LiDAR on the roof. Xpeng switched to a more vision-based driver’s assistance system and avoided the usage of light detection and ranging sensors. The ADAS of the new car is similar to the recently updated Xpeng G6 and G9. The X9 offers new exterior colors and two wheel designs.



The Xpeng X9 boasts dimensions of 5293/1988/1785 mm and a wheelbase of 3160 mm. Despite its large size, its drag coefficient is 0.227 Cd. It is almost as good as the Tesla Model Y Juniper’s number. Lower drag translates into less energy consumption and wind noise at high speeds. Same with the previous model, the 2025 X9 offers rear-wheel steering.


Interior of the Xpeng X9 has a 2+2+3 layout. The new model has zero-gravity second-row seats with an optional 16-point massage. Another highlight is a 21.4-inch monitor for the second-row passengers. According to Xpeng, it is the largest monitor in its class. The 2025 model year X9 also has a 10.8-liter refrigerator. Other features include a 220V power outlet, dual 50W wireless charging pads, and folding tables. According to the automaker, the interior materials of the Xpeng X9 were also enhanced.
Powertrain and presales
The entry-level Xpeng X9 has a single electric motor in the rear axle with a peak power of 235 kW (315 hp). The 4WD variant offers a peak power of 370 kW (496 hp). So, it is similar to the previous model. The Xpeng X9’s range reaches 740 km under CLTC conditions.


The 2025 Xpeng X9 began presales in China with a starting price of 399,800 yuan (54,500 USD). It is 40,000 yuan (5,500 USD) more expensive than the 2024 model. However, there is a chance Xpeng will seemingly cut the X9’s price during the upcoming launch ceremony.
