BYD Han L EV and PHEV sedan starting at 28,600 USD launched in China

On April 9, BYD’s new Han L sedan officially entered the Chinese market, available in EV and PHEV variants.

EV:

  • 701km LiDAR Premium: 219,800 yuan (30,000 USD)

PHEV:

Built based on BYD’s Super e-Platform, the Han L EV comes standard with an 1000V high-voltage architecture, a 30,000 RPM motor, dual-gun charging, and a Flash Charging Battery with a 10C charging rate, which can recharge 400 km of range in 5 minutes, 10% to 70% in 6 minutes, and 0% to 100% in 20 minutes.

Positioned as a mid-to-large sedan, the BYD Han L has a body size of 5050/1960/1505 mm and a wheelbase of 2970 mm. The exterior paint variants are inspired by Chinese porcelain, including silver, ink green, black, and gray, according to the official.

Intelligent driving is supported by BYD’s β€œGod’s Eye” B (DiPilot 300) system to realize urban and highway navigation on autopilot, autonomous valet parking, autonomous parking assistance, remote parking assistance, automatic emergency braking, and blind spot monitoring, just to name a few. The onboard sensors include a lidar, five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 12 cameras.

Im terms of power, the EV is available in RWD and AWD while the PHEV is available in FWD and AWD.

  • RWD: 500 kW (671 hp)/420 Nm rear permanent magnet synchronous motor, 5.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 – 100 km/h, 240 km/h top speed, 83.212 kWh second-generation BYD Blade battery, 701 km CLTC range

BYD’s DM-p plug-in hybrid technology

The PHEV variant is powered by BYD’s 5th generation DM technology consisting of a 1.5T engine with a maximum power of 115 kW (154 hp) and a peak torque of 225 Nm, matched with 29.4 kWh BYD Blade battery, providing a 200 km CLTC pure electric range and 1400 km comprehensive range.

  • FWD: 200 kW (268 hp)/315 Nm front permanent magnet synchronous motor, 6.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 – 100 km/h, 200 km/h top speed
  • AWD: dual 200 kW/315 Nm front and rear motors, 3.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 – 100 km/h

Coming to the interior, the dashboard is decorated with wood materials. The cockpit is powered by BYD’s DiLink 150 system with a 4nm cockpit chip and features a floating 15.6-inch central control screen, a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel, a W-HUD, and a flat-bottom steering wheel.

The front seats support heating, ventilation, and massage functions; and the rear seats are equipped with a central armrest. Other configurations including a 7L cooling and heating refrigerator, 50W wireless charging, 12 airbags, and Dynaudio speakers are present.

BYD further claimed that the Han L has the world’s largest front trunk of a car at 160L.

In 2024, the BYD Han series sold 258,400 units.
