A Xiaomi SU7 Max owner recently shared footage of a devastating accident that left their vehicle crushed beneath a heavy truck, yet remarkably demonstrated the electric sedanβs impressive safety features.
According to reports from May 13, 2025, the purple SU7 Max was parked unoccupied when a large truck lost control and crashed into it. Both vehicles fell from an elevated position, with the truck landing on top of the Xiaomi car, causing what appeared to be catastrophic damage.
Despite the accidentβs severity that rendered the vehicle a total loss, the SU7 maintained its critical structural integrity. Videos from the scene show the carβs exterior severely deformed, with shattered glass, crumpled body panels, and detached bumpers.

However, in a surprising demonstration after the vehicle was recovered, the owner could open all doors normally and even activate the carβs voice assistant system, which successfully operated the front trunk.

The incident has generated significant online attention, with many praising the vehicleβs passive safety features. The owner was so impressed that they tagged Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun in their post, stating they would βbuy another oneβ despite the unfortunate experience.

This real-world test appears to validate Xiaomiβs safety engineering. The SU7 features a mixed body structure of high-strength steel and aluminium alloy, with high-strength materials comprising 90.1% of the body. The vehicleβs most robust components can withstand up to 2000MPa of force, with a torsional rigidity of 51000NΒ·m/deg.

Critical safety zones, including the A-pillars, B-pillars, and floor beams, utilise 2000MPa ultra-high-strength steel, as do the doorβs internal crossbeams, creating an exceptionally rigid passenger compartment.

The SU7βs safety credentials were previously established when it received top marks from Chinaβs Insurance Automotive Safety Index (C-IASI), earning the highest G+ rating across all three major safety test categories β occupant safety, pedestrian safety, and driver assistance safety, making it the only sedan to achieve this distinction.
