The upcomingΒ Mazda EZ-60, an all-electric mid-size SUV, has appeared in Chinaβs Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) database, revealing key specifications ahead of its anticipated late-August launch. Developed in collaboration with Changan and built on the EPA platform, the EZ-60 will be offered in pure electric (EV) and range-extender (EREV) variants.

The production model stays true to the bold styling of theΒ Arata Concept, featuring a futuristic front end with a hidden grille, split-type LED headlights, and a striking full-width daytime running light strip that outlines the grilleβs silhouette. The aggressive front bumper enhances its sporty appeal, while the rear design incorporates a sleekΒ full-width LED taillight clusterΒ with embossed βMAZDAβ lettering. An βEVβ badge distinguishes the EV version, while the range-extender model maintains a similar aesthetic with minor differences.

With dimensions measuringΒ 4,850 mm long, 1,935 mm wide, and 1,620 mm tall, along with aΒ 2,902 mm wheelbase, the EZ-60 is a spacious five-seater in the mid-size SUV category. Buyers can opt for eitherΒ 19-inch or 21-inch alloy wheels and customization options such as different exterior mirrors, rear wipers, and single-tone paint schemes.

Inside, the EZ-60 adopts a minimalist yet futuristic cabin dominated by a massiveΒ 26.45-inch 5K floating touchscreen, serving as the central hub for infotainment and vehicle controls. The dashboard features aΒ dual-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, aΒ column-mounted gear selector, andΒ button-style door releasesΒ for a clean, modern look.

Comfort is prioritised withΒ zero-gravity front seats wrapped in premium upholstery, which includesΒ ventilation, heating, massage functions, and integrated headrest speakers. The floating centre console includesΒ wireless chargingΒ and clever under-console storage, maximising cabin space.

TheΒ pure electric versionΒ is powered by aΒ single 190 kW (255 hp) motor paired with aΒ lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteryΒ fromΒ CALB. While exact range figures remain undisclosed, the setup promises competitive performance.

For those seeking extended range without charging anxiety, theΒ EREV variantΒ combines aΒ 1.5L gasoline range extender (72 kW) with a 190 kW electric motor, supported by aΒ 31.73 kWh LFP battery. This setup deliversΒ 160 km (99 miles) of pure electric drivingΒ before the combustion engine activates as a generator.

The EZ-60 enters a fiercely contested segment, taking on rivals like the Changan Deepal S07, and Avatr 07. Pricing details are still under wraps, but its positioning suggests it will compete in theΒ 150,000β300,000 yuan (20,820β41,640 USD) range.

Mazda has recorded 20,000 pre-orders for the SUV in China. Interested buyers can secure their EZ-60 by placing aΒ refundable 10 yuan (1.4 USD) depositΒ through Changan Mazdaβs official website or dealerships. The depositβs value increases daily until delivery, with the final amount deducted from the purchase priceβa clever incentive to encourage early reservations.
