The first real-world images of the Xiaomi YU7 in its “lava orange” have surfaced online, revealing new design details ahead of its July launch. The electric SUV, available in YU7, YU7 Pro, and YU7 Max variants, was previously shown in green and metallic titanium during its official unveiling.

The YU7’s front end features Xiaomi’s signature closed grille design with a prominently silver logo on the hood. Flanked by triangular air intakes and body-coloured trim, the aggressive bumper design is complemented by innovative headlights incorporating airflow channels connected to the hood and 180-degree ultra-wide illumination capability.

The side profile reveals a sleek, fastback silhouette that transitions into a rear end dominated by transparent-covered, C-shaped LED taillights. Measuring 4,999 mm long, 1,996 mm wide, and 1,600 mm tall with a 3,000 mm wheelbase, the large SUV makes a visual statement with its Lava Orange paint scheme accented by white racing stripes and distinctive semi-enclosed alloy wheels featuring body-coloured trim elements.

Xiaomi has equipped the YU7 series with Nvidia’s Thor platform, which is capable of 700 TOPS performance for advanced driver assistance systems. The comprehensive sensor suite includes one LiDAR unit, a 4D millimetre-wave radar, eleven high-definition cameras, and twelve ultrasonic sensors as standard equipment across all variants.

The cabin presents a driver-focused wraparound design that replaces the SU7’s flip-up instrument panel with Xiaomi’s Hypervision panoramic display system. A large floating central touchscreen in its corner shows gear selection and remaining range information. At the same time, the redesigned centre console now features horizontally arranged cup holders and retains dual wireless phone charging pads.

Passengers can enjoy zero-gravity massage seats in the front that include one-touch positioning controls. Rear occupants benefit from electrically adjustable seatbacks that recline to 135 degrees, complemented by a 6.68-inch rear control screen for climate and entertainment adjustments. Practical touches include a built-in refrigerator and 4/6 split-folding rear seats for cargo flexibility.

All YU7 models utilize Xiaomi’s advanced Super Electric Motor V6s Plus technology, featuring segmented magnets and voltage over-modulation. The entry-level rear-wheel drive YU7 delivers 235 kW (315 hp) and 528 Nm of torque, achieving 0-100 km/h in 5.88 seconds and an 835 km CLTC range from its 96.3 kWh battery.

The YU7 Pro upgrades to dual-motor all-wheel drive with 365 kW (489 hp) and 690 Nm, cutting the sprint time to 4.27 seconds while maintaining a 770 km range. Topping the range, the YU7 Max boasts 508 kW (681 hp) and 866 Nm for blistering 3.23-second acceleration and a 253 km/h top speed, supported by a larger 101.7 kWh battery providing 760 km of range.

With expected pricing positioning it against the Tesla Model Y at 263,500-313,500 yuan (36,500-43,400 USD) and Luxeed R7 at 259,800-339,800 yuan (36,000-47,100 USD), the Xiaomi YU7 enters a competitive segment with its combination of striking design, advanced technology, and multiple performance options.
