Huawei’s Maextro S800 luxury sedan got 3,600 orders in 7 days in China

The Maextro S800 luxury NEV sedan from Huawei and JAC got 3,600 orders in seven days after the market launch in China. This 5.5-meter vehicle has a starting price tag of 708,000 yuan (98,660 USD). Core rivals of the Maextro S800 include the Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class and the Yangwang U7.

Maextro is a joint brand between Huawei and the Nio ex-manufacturer JAC. The two parties jointly built a stand-alone manufacturing facility for this project. JAC is mainly responsible for the manufacturing and the modular architecture development. Huawei acts as a core component supplier. It also takes care of the Maextro S800 sales through its HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) network.

Maextro S800 got 3,600 orders

The Maextro S800 officially entered the Chinese market on May 30, revealing the price range. The entry-level S800 costs 708,000 yuan (98,660 USD). However, the top-trim variant of this luxury sedan has a sticker price of 1,018,000 yuan (141,600 USD). For clarity, the Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class, often mentioned as one of the Maextro S800’s major rivals, starts at 1,468,000 yuan (204,570 USD).

The next day after the launch, Huawei officials disclosed that the Maextro S800 got 1,600 orders in just 24 hours. It is a decent number for a 100K USD car with a Chinese emblem. Interestingly, Huawei executive director Yu Chengdong said that 70% of those orders were for the top trim level of the S800. After the first day, the Maextro S800 orders slowed down. As a result, this model got 2,100 orders in 48 hours.

On June 6, HIMA shared on social media that the Maextro S800 gathered 3,600 orders in 7 days. It means Huawei’s flagship sedan got 1,500 more orders after the first two days. The Maextro S800 will start deliveries in China in August this year. It is worth mentioning that the Maextro plant built by Huawei and JAC has a planned annual capacity of 100 billion yuan (13,95 billion USD) per year. It means Maextro aims to sell over 100,000 units of the S800 annually. It is around 8,300 units per month.
