A new generation of the Xpeng P7 has been spotted in large quantities at one of the company’s manufacturing facilities, signalling that the vehicle is approaching an official launch. The original P7 was a key part of Xpeng’s early product lineup, and this redesigned model is aimed at competing more directly with rivals such as the Xiaomi SU7 and Tesla Model 3 in the mid-to-large electric fastback segment.
According to images published by Sugar Design, the new Xpeng P7 has already begun stockpiling in the factory’s parking lots. As reported by Car News China in May, the model was undergoing an official refresh, and the rapid pace of physical production suggests a public launch may occur as early as August 2025.

Exterior design
The updated P7 adopts Xpeng’s latest design language with a more angular and robust appearance. The front end replaces the previous smooth grille with a sharper, more muscular layout. A downward-sloping hood enhances the aggressive look, and a full-width light bar connects the signature X-shaped headlight clusters.
The rear of the vehicle features a sloping fastback roofline and full-width taillights with X-shaped detailing, mirroring the design of the headlamps. Hidden door handles and new dual four-spoke alloy wheels help reduce aerodynamic drag. The brand’s signature “wing doors” for the front row will reportedly continue as an option.
The car’s overall dimensions are 5,017 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,427 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,008 mm—placing it firmly in the mid-to-large sedan category.

Interior and features
Although official interior photos have not yet been released, previous spy shots suggest that the cabin will feature a minimalist layout, with a compact steering wheel, a narrow instrument display, and a large central floating touchscreen. A co-pilot display may also be included, though it was partially obscured in testing images.
The new P7 is expected to feature advanced navigation and driver assistance functions, as well as a wireless charging pad. Xpeng’s driving assist system continues to rely on a vision-based architecture, though details regarding sensor count and chipsets have not yet been confirmed.

Powertrain and charging
Xpeng has confirmed that the new P7 will be offered in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants. The RWD version will utilise a single 270 kW motor, while the AWD variant combines a front 167 kW motor with a rear 270 kW unit, resulting in a total system output of 437 kW.
Battery options include 74.9 kWh and 92.2 kWh packs. According to China’s CLTC testing cycle, range options will span 702 km for the base RWD model, 820 km for the long-range RWD version, and 750 km for the AWD variant.
All versions will support Xpeng’s 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform and offer 5C fast charging capability. As a reference, the Xpeng G7 features the 5C charging technology, which enables it to charge from 0% to 436 km in just 10 minutes.

Editor’s comments:
The original Xpeng P7 was introduced in 2020 and has been one of the company’s most recognised models. With the increasing competitiveness of China’s EV market—especially in the high-performance sedan segment now led by Xiaomi and Tesla—this redesigned P7 may play a key role in Xpeng’s attempt to reclaim market share.
The model is expected to be formally launched in August 2025. Final pricing, trim levels, and interior specifications are likely to be revealed closer to that date.
