Nio has announced updated versions of its ES6, EC6, ET5, and ET5T models; reservations are now open. The refreshed lineup is built on the NT2.5 platform and brings several changes in interior layout, user interface, and powertrain configuration. Reserve by June 30, 2025, for 5 years of free battery swaps (240 vouchers) and 10,000 Nio points upon delivery. The ES6 and EC6 will hit showrooms by May 16, while the ET5 and ET5T will arrive on May 22, with test drives starting May 25.
Nio mentions a significant update is the redesigned interior, now centred around a horizontal touchscreen interface similar to the ET9 sedan. The cabin also features a new gear selector mounted on the steering column, which frees up space in the centre console area. Other modifications include dual wireless charging pads with cooling functions and cup holders that now include sliding covers, aiming to improve convenience in daily use.
Exterior revisions are minor but help differentiate the updated models from earlier versions. The front end has been revised with narrower daytime running lights integrated into redesigned headlight clusters. Adjustments to the bodywork have also been made to improve aerodynamic performance.
The ES6 and EC6 continue to use a dual-motor powertrain setup. The system includes a 150 kW AC asynchronous motor at the front and a 210 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor at the rear, combining a total output of 490 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. Three battery options are available, with the 150 kWh version giving the EC6 a CLTC-estimated range of up to 935 km.
Nio will continue offering its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program, which allows users to lease batteries instead of purchasing them outright. This setup remains available for customers who prefer lower initial purchase costs.
The changes across these four models focus on usability, range, and interface improvements. While the overall design and technical layout remain consistent with previous versions, the 2024 updates introduce refinements to address user feedback and align features more closely with other vehicles in Nio’s current portfolio.
