Voyah unveiled the 2025 model-year Dreamer MPV on August 15. It is a facelift version of the car that originally went on sale in 2022 and can largely be seen as a makeover by Huawei. However, the changes are not purely cosmetic and involve the configuration and capability. The upgraded Dreamer will start pre-sales on August 28.
Externally, the 2025 Dreamer is marked out by a new grille. Although the overall shape of the grille is largely the same as the old one, it now features 34 vertical Chrome strips, and there is also a shadowing effect at both the top and bottom of the grille. The 34 strips represent the 34 provinces and autonomous regions of China. Chrome also covers the front lip and edges of the air intake on both sides, and the air intakes themselves are now far more prominent. High-spec versions of the car have a lidar unit mounted at the top of the windshield. Chinese media claim that the waistline now extends from the headlight to the tail and that the overall sidelines are straighter. From the press conference we can also see a number of new wheel designs including one with numerous close spokes.
Dimensions of the 2025 year model are slightly different at 5315, 1980, and 1820 mm (l/w/h) but the wheelbase remains unchanged at 3200 mm. For reference the existing car (see specs) measures 5315, 1985, and 1800 mm.
The 2025 Dreamer uses Voyahβs Lanhai power system and there are both PHEV and fully electric versions of the MPV. In the case of the PHEV, it features an engine with a thermal efficiency of 45.18%.
Little was revealed about the interior at the unveiling. However, it was mentioned that maximum legroom in the third row had been increased by 10%. This is part of what is claimed to be a comprehensive upgrading of the interior and includes comfort improvements such as an increase in the backrest height for third-row passengers and an improvement in shoulder support for them.
We also know that the cockpit will gain the Huawei treatment with the HarmonyOS system intelligent cockpit. There should also be a refrigerator with also a heating function.
Where the biggest change lies is with the adoption of Huaweiβs smart driving solution in its newest Qiankun ADS 3.0 form. The AEB functions have been upgraded as part of the system. Forward collision avoidance speed ranges from 4 to 150 km/h, and rear and side collision avoidance are also supported. AEB supports reversing at speeds of up to 60 km/h. The system can recognize pedestrians, two-wheeled vehicles, along with vehicles traveling in the opposite direction. When encountering slippery road surfaces, the adaptive AEB function can predict and brake smoothly. In extreme situations where the braking distance is too short, the system can automatically avoid obstacles, bypassing them while braking.
Road and scene recognition in ADS 3.0 is vastly improved thanks to cloud and real vehicle training. This allows the system to understand the situation and make decisions closer to an experienced human driver. ADS 3.0 sees the upgrading to the GOD network (general obstacle detection) which builds upon the architecture seen with birdβs eye view (BEV) network and GOD network seen in ADS 2.0. These upgrade self-driving ability not only in terms of safety but the experience as well. There are now 160 parking scenarios supported.
Enabling the Dreamerβs smart driving capabilities are a suite of 27 sensors including high-definition cameras, and milimeter wavelength radars. New to the Dreamer is a 192-line Lidar unit from Huawei.
