Xiaomi SU7 Ultra pre-orders open ahead of launch, expected at 112,500 USD

Pre-orders for the SU7 Ultra are already available on Xiaomi’s website, where users can select their preferred dealerships. Xiaomi will launch the SU7 Ultra on October 29 alongside the 15 series smartphones. The price for the SU7 Ultra is expected to be around 800,000 yuan (112,500 USD), according to Goldman Sachs.

Introduced by CEO Lei Jun in July, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype is the company’s most advanced electric vehicle. The car features a three-motor system, with two V8s motors and one V6s motor, delivering a combined output of 1,138 kW (1,526 hp). The production version is expected to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.97 seconds and reach a top speed of 350 km/h. While the prototype featured a full-carbon body, the production model will exclude this due to high costs, according to Lei.

CATL provides the battery pack and is the Qilin 2.0, announced in June with a launch date in Q4. It has a CTB (Cell-to-Body) format, so it is integrated directly into the vehicle’s structure for increased rigidity and interior space. The battery has a capacity of 150 kWh and a maximum output of 1,330 kW. At a 20% charge, it can still output over 800 kW, providing reliable performance. Additionally, the battery has a dual-surface cooling system, increasing cooling efficiency by 60%, which is crucial for high-speed driving.

Qilin 2.0 is supposed to have 6C ultra-fast changing, CATL said during the June unveiling.

Xiaomi recently attempted to test the SU7 Ultra Prototype at the NΓΌrburgring, a track known for demanding conditions. However, the event faced setbacks due to rain, preventing the team from completing a lap. Lei Jun expressed disappointment but noted that this was just the start of the company’s efforts to compete in high-performance motorsports.
