BYD electric pickup truck BYD Shark debuts in Cambodia

On October 26th, BYD held a launch event in Cambodia to introduce its new electric pickup the BYD Shark, locally known as the BYD Shark 6.The truck is set to start at around 56,700 USD.

This marks the first Asian market where the BYD Shark is being sold. The hybrid pick-up first debuted in Mexico this past May and is yet to be released domestically in China. The model is currently being sold in Brazil, Mexico, Panama, and is soon to be launched in Australia.

BYD announced the Shark 6 with its partner Harmony Auto, the exclusive distributor of BYD brand cars in Cambodia.ย BYD is currently offering incentives such as a $500 gas card, 3 years of 50,000 km of free maintenance, a 7 kW charger, and an 8 year or 160,000 km warranty for each 1000 USD deposit.

During the event, BYD highlighted the Sharkโ€™s VTOL (Vehicle to Load) capability, a feature that allows the vehicle to power external devices. This function can supply power to camping equipment, emergency power sources, and household appliances.ย

The Shark uses BYDโ€™s DMO platform, which is also used by the off-road focused Fang Cheng Bao Bao 5 and Bao 8. The DMO platform prioritizes energy efficiency and allows for real off-road ability with its ability to adjust torque distribution between the front and rear.ย
