On November 12, Hongqi unveiled its brand-new Tiangong 08 all-electric electric five-seater SUV built based on its Tiangong pure electric platform and the Jiuzhang intelligent platform. The Tiangong 08 will sell overseas as Hongqi EHS7. This vehicle started pre-sales in Europe for 53,999 Euros (59,000 USD).
The car will start pre-sale at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show, which will open on November 15, and will be officially launched in mid-December. A battery replacement version will also be available.
Tiangong is a new modular pure electric platform created by Hongqi, which is compatible with sedans, SUVs, MPVs, and crossover models, featuring Hongqiβs first low-temperature battery pack with a -10β capacity retention rate of 98% and fast charging that can charge up to 80% in 5 minutes, according to the brand. In 2026, Hongqi plans to launch a mid-size luxury pure electric SUV and a mid-size luxury pure electric sedan built based on Tiangong.
The Jiuzhang intelligent platform focuses on intelligent cockpit and intelligent driving, powered by the βHongqi No. 1β automotive-grade chip. The intelligent driving system called βSinan Intelligent Drivingβ of the Jiuzhang platform supports urban NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) advanced driving assistance capabilities as well as intelligent parking assist.
The Hongqi Tiangong 08 will be offered in RWD and AWD. The RWD trim has a maximum power of 253 kW (339 hp), while the AWD adds a 202 kW (271 hp) front electric motor. The top speed is 200 km/h. Additionally, two battery pack options will be available: ternary lithium battery and lithium iron phosphate. The 111 kWh ternary lithium battery pack will provide the RWD with a range of 730 km and the AWD a range of 680 km (assuming CLTC). The battery capacity and range data of the lithium iron phosphate battery version have not been announced at this time. It is worth pointing out that the Hongqi Tiangong 08 will also launch a battery replacement version.
Inside, the cockpit is equipped with a flat-bottom steering wheel, an integrated screen consisting of the LCD instrument panel and a central control screen, and a dual-focal AR-HUD that can display driving and navigation information within a visual range of 4 m and 7.5 m, respectively. The traditional physical door handle on the door trim has been canceled and replaced with a button. Mobile phone wireless charging is available on the center console. The audio system comes from Dolby Atmos. Intelligent voice interaction is also present.
