BYD has officially announced that its new Sealion 07 midsize crossover SUV has entered the Norwegian market, with the first deliveries planned for next year. The model originally debuted in Europe at the Paris Auto Show in October, and is now entering Norway, a leader in EV adoption.
Originally known as the BYD Sealion 07 EV in the Chinese market, the re-branded BYD Sealion 07 is marketed with the phrase βfjord scenery meets ocean aesthetics designβ. A reference to BYDβs Ocean Line aesthetics philosophy.Β
The BYD Sealion 07 is currently for sale in China with a starting price of 189,800 yuan (26,200 USD). In Norway, the vehicle is starting at NOK 469,900 (42,300 USD). This represents a 61% increase from Chinese domestic market price.
The BYD Sealion 07 was originally launched in China in April of this year. It is the first model to be based on the new e-platform 3.0 Evo, a significant upgrade from the previous e-Platform 3.0. The vehicle also features enhanced cell-to-body (CTB) integration technology, which improves frontal collision safety and passenger cabin safety by 60% and 50%, respectively.Β
The car features three powertrains. Two-wheel drive models include electric motors with 230 kW and 170 kW power outputs. The four-wheel drive model has two-motors, with maximum power outputs of 160 kW and 230 kW. The single-motor model offers range options of 550 km and 610 km. The dual-motor model has a range of 550 km.Β
The dimensions of the vehicle are 4830/1925/1620 mm, and with a wheelbase of 2930 mm.
The BYD Sealion marks BYDβs seventh model in Norway. The company introduces the new vehicle alongside the existing BYD Seal U (BYD Song in China), BYD Seal, BYD Dolphin, BYD Tang, BYD Atto 3, and BYD Han. The company continues its global ambitions with its latest launch and expands its model line-up in the highly competitive Norway EV market.
