In November, the passenger car (sedan, SUV, and MPV) market retail sales in China reached 2.424 million units, a month-on-month increase of 7.2% and a year-on-year increase of 16.6%; bringing the cumulative sales from January to November to 20.258 million units. The sales of sedans in November were 1.12 million units, SUVs were 1.201 million units, and MPVs were 104,000 units. For reference, the November vehicle wholesale volume was 3.316 million units.
Moreover, the new energy vehicle (NEV) retail penetration rate has exceeded 50% for five consecutive months, reaching 52.3% in November. The retail sales volume of NEVs was 1.268 million units, a month-on-month increase of 5.9% and a year-on-year increase of 50.5%; while the retail sales volume of conventional gasoline-powered vehicles was 1.155 million units, a month-on-month increase of 8.0% and a year-on-year decrease of 7.0%.

In terms of individual vehicle retail sales, the BYD Seagull topped the list, with more than 56,000 units sold. Only the Nissan Sylphy, Volkswagen Lavida, Volkswagen Passat, and Volkswagen Sagitar made the top 20 list among gasoline-powered vehicles. Overall, 79 models exceeded the 10,000 unit mark, 26 models exceeded the 20,000 unit mark, and 8 models exceeded the 30,000 unit mark.
However, despite the growing popularity of NEVs, from January to November, conventional gasoline-powered vehicles retail sales were 10.663 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 15.0%, accounting for 52.6% of the market share; while NEVs retailed 9.594 million units, a year-on-year increase of 41.2%, accounting for 47.4% of the market share.
