Geely Australia’s official website confirmed that the Geely EX5 pure electric SUV, known as the Geely Galaxy E5 in China, will launch in mid-2025, priced around 45,000 USD (72,200 AUD or 326,000 yuan). The car will be adjusted in terms of configurations and the suspension system for the Australian market, according to Geely.
For reference, the Geely Galaxy E5 was launched on the Chinese market in August this year, available in five trims, with a price range from 112,800 – 148,800 yuan (15,760 – 20,800 USD).
Currently, the specific details of the adjustments to meet the local requirements have not been revealed. There have been speculations that Geely will calibrate the camera and radar systems to adapt to the Australian driving conditions. At the same time, the Geely EX5 is expected to have OTA update capabilities.
It is worth pointing out that earlier this year, the Geely EX5 made its official debut in Frankfurt, Germany. Although EX5 is the international name, the car was launched as the Proton e.MAS 7 in Malaysia this month, available in basic and advanced trims, priced at 109,800 ringgit (180,000 yuan or 24,500 USD) and 123,800 ringgit (202,000 yuan or 27,600 USD), respectively.
In terms of appearance, interior, and power specifications, the Geely EX5 is not much different from the domestic version. Built based on Geely’s GEA platform, the length, width, and height are 4615/1901/1670 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 2750 mm. The drag coefficient is 0.269cd.
The front-mounted electric motor has a maximum power of 160 kW (215 hp), a peak torque of 320 Nm, and a 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time of 6.9 seconds. The battery comes from Geely’s AEGIS Short Blade LFP packs, offered in 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh capacities, which correspond to a CLTC cruising range of 440 km and 530 km, respectively.
Inside, the Geely EX5 retains the 10.2-inch instrument panel, 15.4-inch central control screen that is powered by the Flyme Auto system, HUD, 16-speaker Flyme Audio system, and level 2 advanced driving assistance system. Other standard configurations include automatic climate control, seat heating, cooling, ventilation, & massage functions, and a 50W mobile phone wireless charging panel.
