On December 26, Baojunβs flagship sedan targeting family-oriented users was officially unveiled, named βBaojun Xiangjingβ, and will be officially launched in the first half of 2025. Both BEV and PHEV variants will be offered. Previously, the car was declared as βYunguangβ by the Chinese MIIT.
Baojun was founded in 2010 under the SGMW joint venture and achieved annual sales of one million vehicles in 2017. However, since then, Baojunβs sales have experienced six consecutive declines. The total sales in 2018 were 879,000 vehicles, 604,000 vehicles in 2019, 422,000 vehicles in 2020, 215,000 vehicles in 2021, 59,600 vehicles in 2022, and only 51,600 vehicles in 2023. This time, Baojun has set its sights on the more mainstream family-oriented consumer market, positioning the Xiangjing as a βsmart and ultra-comfortable flagship family sedanβ aimed at the mid-to-high-end market.
The EV and PHEV variants are differentiated in terms of design in which the PHEV uses a through-type headlight stripe that runs across the front face and connects the headlights on both sides.
The EV is equipped with a closed grille and three-point LED headlights. The bottom is equipped with a trapezoidal grille decorated with silver trim. Baojunβs brand logo is located at the center.
The Baojun Xiangjing is also expected to come with the Lingmou Intelligent Driving 2.0 Max system.
The overall vehicle length, width, and height are 5005 mm, 1900 mm, and 1490 mm (EV) / 1505 mm (PHEV), respectively; with a 2900 mm wheelbase. For reference, the Geely Galaxy E8 measures 5010/1920/1465 mm with a 2925 mm wheelbase.
Power of the EV variant comes from an 186 kW (249 hp) electric motor with a top speed of 170 km/h, paired with a lithium iron phosphate battery pack. The PHEV variant is powered by a 1.5T engine with a maximum power of 105 kW (141 hp) and a maximum speed of 190 km/h, also paired with a lithium iron phosphate battery pack, offering a 101 km CLTC pure electric range. More detailed specifications of the battery capacity and range are currently unknown at this time.
For the interior, according to the spy shot, the cockpit is simple, equipped with a full LCD instrument panel, a large central control screen, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a center console with two cup holders and a storage compartment.
Weβll watch closely for more info.
