Xpeng teases the new P7+ sedan, launch scheduled for Q4

Xpeng released the first official images of their latest model P7+. It was previously known under the codename F57. The production start of this model was scheduled for June 2024. And now, Xpeng has kicked off the marketing campaign. It indicates the P7+ will soon apply for the sales license. Its market launch is scheduled for Q4 this year.

Xpeng is one of the oldest Chinese startups focusing on manufacturing electric cars. Its model line comprises six vehicles: P7i, P5, and Mona M03 sedans, G6 and G9 crossovers, and X9 minivan. However, the Xpeng’s sales volume doesn’t match with this diversity. In January-June 2024, it delivered 52,082 units. Previously, the P7i (see specs) was the brand’s bestselling model. However, it lost ground lately. It is why Xpeng wants to launch the successor of this model called P7+.

More about Xpeng P7+

The Xpeng P7+ follows the brand’s RoboFace design language. Its front end adopts a thin running light strip and headlights integrated into the front bumper. It has a sizable trapeze-shaped air intake and a sloped bonnet line. From the side, the Xpeng P7+ has a blackened sleek roofline, blackened pillars, and side-view mirrors. The teased car looks like a liftback. However, it has a separate trunk.

From the back, the Xpeng P7+ adopts a ducktail spoiler with an integrated braking light. It also has two curved taillight units and an Xpeng badge. The charging port sits in the rear right charging port cover. In general, the body shape of the Xpeng P7+ looks close to the previously debuted Xpeng Mona M03 (see specs). Xpeng previously claimed the M03 has the lowest drag coefficient of 0.194 Cd.

It is worth mentioning that the Xpeng P7+ hasn’t got LiDAR sensors. Instead, it depends on cameras, similar to Tesla’s FSD system. There is no information about the specs of the Xpeng P7+ aside from a 5-meter length. However, this car will be revealed by the Chinese regulator as it’s getting closer to the sales start.

Aside from the P7+, Xpeng plans to launch four more cars until 2025. One of them is the P6 four-door sleek electric coupe. It eagerly wants to enhance its sales number and put an end to the stagnation of the last couple of years.
