Our 1965 Ford F-100 βChargeZillaβ EV-swap project truck is going on sale at the Barrett Jackson Scottsdale 2025 auction. All proceeds from the sale will benefit a scholarship fund to educate and train EV technicians. Whatβs going? What powers this hard-working old pickup truck? Letβs dig in!
One of the most ambitious projects we have ever attempted is this EV swap. It was a collaboration among several companies: Legacy EV, 101 Motors, TFLstudios, FOX Shocks, and BFGoodrich. Nearly $100,000 of components and labor went in to build this truck and produce a six-episode video series. You can watch the entire video series below. Already, over 350,000 people have watched it on Youtube, and many more people watched it on other platforms.
Take a look here at the Barrett Jackson Auction docket listing. The truckβs docket number is 499.1. It should go across the block on Wednesday January 22nd. If you are there in Scottsdale, Arizona. You can view the truck in Tent 5, spot A-30. It is being sold at no reserve.
The truck is currently owned by LegacyEV. They are the sellers and they got it into the Barrett Jackson auction. You may notice, that it is not listed as a βcharityβ auction on the Barrett Jackson site. There are logistics reasons for it, but LegacyEV will put all of their proceeds of this sale towards two EV technician scholarships.

It was originally purchased by us at TFLstudios nearly four years ago. We donated this truck for this βE-100 ChargeZillaβ project. It has an F-250 chassis / springs. It has a divorced 4Γ4 low-range transfer case (same as a Ford F-250 High Boy truck). We used an EV swap kit from LegacyEV which combined Tesla battery pack modules and two Hyper9 electric motors that feed into the Ford 4Γ4 transfer case and original axles.
The power output is listed at 261 hp and 657 lb-ft of torque. Itβs not a super fast truck, but it has more than enough power and torque. The total battery capacity is 52 kWh and the driving range is listed at 120 miles. It offers Level-1 and Level-2 charging capability. The charge-port is integrated where the original fuel filler used to be.
The FOX 2.5 internal bypass dampers were tuned by a FOX specialist. It has a new power steering system for ease of driving and operation. Itβs rolling on 17-inch American Racing wheels and 35-inch BFGoodrich KM3 tires. This E-100 ChargeZilla truck is not afraid of doing some serious work.
