Chevy is the fastest-growing EV brand in the US right now

The fastest-growing EV brand in the US is not Tesla or Rivian. Itโ€™s GMโ€™s Chevrolet. With the electric Equinox, Blazer, and Silverado rolling out, Chevy is now the fastest-growing EV brand in the US. Although Tesla still accounts for about 50% of EV retail share, new models are eating away at its lead.

Earlier this year, GM claimed to be the โ€œfastest-growing high volume EV manufacturer in the USโ€ after sales surged 50% in the fourth quarter.

GMโ€™s share of the US electric vehicle market doubled last year to around 12.5% in Q4. By the second half of 2024, GM topped Ford to become the number-two seller of EVs, trailing only Tesla.

Chevy led the growth with Q4 Equinox EV sales climbing 85% from the prior quarter. Despite launching just last year, the Chevy Equinox EV became the eighth best-selling EV in the US by the end of 2024.

According to JD Power, โ€œThe fastest-growing brand in the EV segment right now is Chevrolet.โ€ The new vehicle forecast for March expects โ€œa month of stability for EVs,โ€ with 23% of buyers saying they are โ€œvery likelyโ€ to consider an electric car as their next purchase.

The report notes that โ€œEV retail share is on the rise, crossing the 10% thresholdโ€ so far in March. Although other brands, like Chevy and Rivian, are on the rise, Teslaโ€™s share has dropped to 50% in 2025, down from 56% a year ago.

Chevy calls the electric Equinox โ€œAmericaโ€™s most affordable 315+ miles range EV.โ€ The 2025 Equinox EV LT FWD starts at $34,995, with an EPA-estimated range of up to 319 miles. Itโ€™s available in both FWD and AWD across two trims: LT and RS.

Last week, orders for the 2025 Blazer EV SS opened. Chevyโ€™s electric SUV is now available in LT, RS, and SS trims with FWD, AWD, and RWD powertrain options. It starts at $45,995 and has a range of up to 312 miles.

Keep in mind that all Chevy Equinox and Blazer EV models still qualify for the $7,500 federal tax credit. With it included, you could potentially snag an electric Equinox for around $27,500 or the Blazer EV for roughly $38,500.

With Chevrolet Equinox EV leases starting as low as $299 per month or 0% APR financing right now, itโ€™s no wonder sales are surging.
