BYD sold 377,420 EVs globally in March, bringing its first-quarter sales to nearly one million. The company exported a record-breaking 206,084 electric vehicles, up 111% from Q1 2024.
In Q1 2025, a Shenzhen-based automaker sold 416,388 passenger BEVs, up 39% from 300,114 in Q1 2024. The BEV sales accounted for 42.2%, down from 48.1% in Q1 last year.

The passenger PHEV sales were 569,710 units, up 76% from 324,284 in Q1 2024. The PHEV sales accounted for 57.8%, up from 51.9%.

BYD sold 3 million vehicles in 2023, 4.3 million in 2024 and is expected to deliver around 5.5 million units in 2025 and 6.5 million in 2026.
In March 2025, BYD sold 377,420 vehicles. Of it, 371,419 were passenger cars, up 15% from February and 23.1% from last year.
BYD produced 395,091 vehicles in March, up 33% from 296,253 units last year. The difference between production and sales is 17,671 vehicles.
The export sales in March were 72,723 units, up nearly 90% from 38,434 vehicles in the same month last year and 8.5% from February. This is also a monthly all-time high for BYD exports.
Here is the March sales breakdown for the particular BYD brands:
- Yangwang: 133 units
- Fang Cheng Bao: 8,051 units (+126% YoY)
- Denza: 12,620 units (+22.8% YoY)
- BYD-badged cars (Dynasty + Ocean series): 350,615 units (+23% YoY)
In Q1 2025, BYD sold 990,711 passenger vehicles globally, up 58.7% from 624,398 units in Q1 2024.
Of it, 206,084 vehicles were exported overseas, up 110.5% from Q1 2024.
Year-to-date, BYD sold 1,000,804 vehicles, of which 986,098 were passenger cars.
As of March 2025, cumulative sales of BYD electric vehicles surpassed 11.6 million, the company announced today.
