2025 Dongfeng Aeolus L7 PHEV with 2,239.6 km real-world tested range enters market at 13,000 USD

On April 13, the 2025 Dongfeng Aeolus L7 officially entered the market, available in a total of eight trims, priced from 94,900 – 139,900 yuan (13,000 – 19,200 USD). As a facelift model, the new car has been upgraded in terms of configurations based on the previous model’s appearance, and it still offers EV and PHEV variants.

Depending on the trims, the 2025 Dongfeng Aeolus L7 measures 4670(4685)/1900/1625(1610/1617) mm, and the wheelbase is 2775 mm. The standard i-Control intelligent electronic control system onboard the vehicle features anti-lock braking, traction control, hill descent control, active rollover protection, electronic brake distribution, and hydraulic brake assist.

Three exterior paints are offered: blue, silver, and black + white.

The PHEV is powered by the Mach PHREV system that underpins the EV, PHEV, and EREV platforms, consisting of a 1.5T four-cylinder hybrid engine and a front permanent magnet synchronous motor, mated to a 4-speed DHT. The engine has a maximum power of 113 kW (152 hp), a peak torque of 240 Nm, and a thermal efficiency of 45.18%. The motor has a maximum power of 100 kW (134 hp) and a peak torque of 260 Nm, bringing the total system power to 265 kW (355 hp) and torque to 615 Nm. The top speed is 170 km/h.

30.3 kWh Mach battery pack

Two Dongfeng’s self-developed Mach battery pack options are offered: 17 kWh and 30.3 kWh, providing a corresponding CLTC pure electric range of 110 km and 205 km as well as a comprehensive range of 1,400 km and 1,500 km, respectively. Additionally, the WLTC comprehensive fuel consumption is 1.49L/100km and 0.56L/100km, respectively. Under fast charging, it takes 26 minutes to recharge from 30% to 80%.

At the same time, Dongfeng claimed the actual real-world tested comprehensive is more than 2,000 km. In a recent challenge under a full tank and full charge, the Aeolus L7 PHEV achieved a comprehensive cruising range of 2239.6 km by looping around the tropical island of Hainan three times in southern China.

The EV variant is powered by a 120 kW (161 hp)/240 Nm or 160 kW (215 hp)/310 Nm front permanent magnet synchronous motor, matched with 50.8 kWh, 61.2 kWh, or 62.3 kWh battery packs, depending on the trims. Two CLTC cruising ranges of 430 km and 518 km are offered, and the top speed is 170 km. Under fast charging, it takes 28 minutes to recharge from 30% to 80%.

Inside, most of the trims’ cockpit operating system runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. The entire series comes with a 14.6-inch central control screen, an AI voice assistant, remote control via mobile phone, and either a 10.25-inch or a 10-inch instrument panel. The high-end trims have a 1.08 ㎡ panoramic sunroof and level 2 advanced driving assistance capabilities. Only the top-of-line trim supports 50W wireless charging.
